The Girls of San Frediano: Journey through the San Frediano Neighborhood.

Tour Description.

Enjoy a tour to discover one of Florence’s historic neighborhoods: the San Frediano district.

Starting from one of Florence’s most famous squares, Piazza Ognissanti, you will cross the Amerigo Vespucci bridge and enter the San Frediano neighborhood.

The guide will tell you the history of this area of Florence through the eyes of the famous Italian writer Vasco Pratolini.

Pratolini describes the neighborhood in his famous novel “The Girls of San Frediano” as lively and sparkling, and he does so by telling the story of the lives of four girls and through the eyes of its inhabitants who, in a Florence healing the wounds left by the war, feel the need to take back their lives and have a desire for redemption. Even today, San Frediano is called one of the centers of Florentine nightlife.
