Val d’Orcia tour: Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano

The Val d’Orcia has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004, as a source of inspiration for many Renaissance painters.
There you will be surrounded by impressive views, art, culture, extraordinary wine and delicious food!

Our semi-private tour will be in a premium minivan with private driver, air conditioning and free water.

The first stop will be at a small winery in Montalcino. The winery is owned by a local family, and talking to them, you won’t feel like you are visiting their workplace, but their home! You’ll learn all about Brunello di Montalcino: vineyard techniques, winemaking, aging, and, of course, how to appreciate it by drinking different vintages!

After the wine tasting we will go to Pienza, a few kilometers away. Arriving in Pienza, a papal village famous for its “pecorino” cheese, you will have the chance to enjoy a gourmet lunch in a former 15th-century convent. A fantastic 3-course meal with wine and water will be served in a colorful garden with breathtaking views of the Val d’Orcia!

After lunch you will have free time to explore the delightful town of Pienza where you can appreciate the historic center, enjoy the viewpoints and visit the famous cheese stores!

Then we will go to Montepulciano, our last stop. Montepulciano is a typical medieval Tuscan village with verdant landscapes characterized by rolling hills and castle walls. Situated on a limestone hill 2000 feet above sea level, it is world famous for its “Vino Nobile” which you can try during your free time. There we will be guided through a historic winery called “The Underground City,” which is located on the lower floor of a local wine shop. On your way out of the underground city you will be greeted by a tasting of wine and other food specialties.

Before we leave we will make sure we have enough time to visit the main square, located at the top of the city, from where you can take the last photos!

At that point our tour will end and we will return to Florence in comfort around 6:30 pm.
